Denni Locke, Pastor Fred Small, a small group of volunteers and I
started Bridge The Gap College Prep in 1995 with a handful of
students and tutors at the Marin City Church of God.Now, with the
help of generous funding from the Marin Community Foundation, the
Milagro Foundation, Fireman’s Fund, and various other Bay Area
foundations and organizations, the program has expanded to serve
over 90 students from the Marin City Community with one-on-one
tutoring two nights and three afternoons per week all through the
school year.
We have over 100 volunteers and are now in our 16th school
year.
In January 2010 we launched our afterschool program for the children
of Marin City, in addition to our evening program. Our goal is to
prepare every child in Marin City to graduate high school and to
complete college.
A Focused Approach That Benefits You
As a fee only financial advisor, all of my efforts are focused on
the management of investment portfolios and finding the best stocks,
bonds, mutual funds, REIT’s and exchange traded funds for my
clients.
Most of my new clients are investors who grew weary of their broker
selling them new investment or insurance products to generate
commissions, often times creating a conflict of interest and very
poor performance.
Many have been investors who realize that finding the best place to
invest money required more time and research than they were able to
find.Working with a fee only financial advisor solves both of these
problems.
I am a Registered Investment Advisor, successfully managing
individual, family, business and non-profit investments in Marin,
the San Francisco Bay Area, and across the country for over 20
years.
I work with my clients to manage their money in a way that is
consistent with their investment goals. I do not try to beat an
imaginary index. I work to prevent losses and seek to maximize
return on investment without taking unnecessary risk.

Bob Goldman Financial Planning in the Marin County
Bob Goldman came to financial planning after a career in advertising
where he worked for financial clients including Wells Fargo, World
Savings, and Charles Schwab. His writing has appeared in
The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times. His weekly business
column is syndicated by the Creator's Syndicate.
Bob Goldman is on the Board of Directors of the Financial Planning
Association of San Francisco. He holds a Certificate in Personal
Financial Planning from the University of California, Berkeley,
University Extension. Bob is a member of NAPFA, the National
Association of Personal Financial Planners, and an active
participant of the Garrett Planning Network, the nation's premier
organization of hourly, as-needed financial advisors.
You don’t need to have a lot of money to work with Bob Goldman
Financial Planning. All you need to bring to the table are goals.
Because that’s what the financial planning process is all about –
developing sensible, workable plans to get you from where you are
today to where you want to be tomorrow.
Where you want to be tomorrow is up to you. Today your immediate
goal could be coming to grips with a new economic reality – and
learning how best to survive and, hopefully, prosper.
Budgeting may be an important short-term goal, or realigning your
investments to face a new economic reality. Funding a quality
education or buying a home may be an intermediate goal. And
enjoying a secure financial future in your retirement years is
likely to be one of your most important long-term goals.
When it comes to choosing a financial planner, many people find
themselves in a quandary. On one hand, they may not completely trust
commissioned sales people to put their best interests
first. On the other, they don’t have the $500,000 to $1,000,000 in
“investable assets” required by most “fee-only” financial planners.
Is there an alternative? Definitely. Bob Goldman Financial
Planning offers hourly planning, with no commissions and no fees —
not even referral fees. The hourly costs are usually much lower than
typical commissions and management fee. And you
know that you are getting 100% objective advice.
What are your alternatives? Let’s take a closer look:
Commission sales advisors: Stock brokers, mutual-fund advisors, bank
employees, insurance, and annuity sales people are all, in one way
or another, paid on commission. The more they sell,
the more they make. While there may be excellent financial planners
among this large group, be certain that any advice you are given is
designed for your needs and not their commissions.
