DDF was founded by Doug Dean in 1979 as a sole proprietorship. With
the addition of Richard Dorton as a partner in 1981, the firm
practiced under the name of Dean & Associates. The following
year, the firm added Joseph Ford, and Dean Dorton Ford, PSC, was
incorporated as a professional service corporation.
At DDF, our philosophy centers on an unyielding commitment to
provide services that exceed our clients’ expectations and are
consistently superior to our competitors in quality and timeliness.
Further, we strive to do so in a setting that is satisfying
professionally and personally for firm employees.
Contributing to the local community is an essential part of life at
Dean Dorton Ford. In fact, community involvement is one of our core
values. As such, the firm encourages its accountants,
consultants, and staff to volunteer in the community and to involve
themselves in the civic activities about which they are most
passionate. The firm promotes employee involvement by offering
paid time off for volunteer time for all of our staff. During 2008,
Dean Dorton Ford invested over 2,300 hours in service to community
organizations. Employees of Dean Dorton Ford serve on the
boards of and have leadership roles in nonprofit and civic
organizations such as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Association (ALS),
Bluegrass Conservancy, Carnegie Center for Literacy &
Learning, Commerce Lexington, Girl Scouts, Governor’s Scholar’s
Program, International Book Project, Junior Achievement, LexArts,
Opera House Fund, and Women Leading Kentucky.
