Successful investing requires a unique set of skills. The
accomplished investor must know how to analyze companies in a way
that identifies common measures of value across disparate
industries and countries. Beyond that, a good investor must be
disciplined enough to only buy stocks that meet stringent value
criteria, patient enough after the purchase to ignore short-term
vagaries that have no real impact on a stock’s value, and yet
flexible enough to respond quickly to changing fundamentals or
emerging opportunities.
The goal of French Broad Global is to identify stocks selling at the
greatest discount to their intrinsic value using fundamental
analysis. Price is paramount because a great company by itself is
not enough. Our stock valuation methodology factors in a company’s
country of domicile and industry. Countries and industries perceived
to be riskier necessitate either a discount or cheaper
valuation multiples to meet our purchase requirements. Subsequently,
country and industry breakdowns, as a percentage of a portfolio, are
a derivative of risk-adjusted individual stock valuations.
In simpler terms, FB Global buys the stocks selling at the greatest
discount to their risk-adjusted intrinsic value. This framework
creates upper limits for country and industry weightings based on
our overall judgment. Our sell discipline is based both on a stock’s
valuation and its relative valuation to all stocks.
Global funds invest in both foreign countries and in the U.S., while
international funds invest only in foreign countries. There are two
primary reasons to consider global investing. The world market
offers more opportunities and provides broader diversification,
which can reduce risk and increase return.
U.S. stocks account for 36 percent of the world market. Broadening
your investment horizon to include foreign companies increases your
investment opportunities almost two-fold. There are a
high number of world-class companies outside of the U.S. and
emerging markets’ economies are growing significantly faster than
the U.S. market. Recent economic data shows China and India’s
economies growing at rates of 10% and 8%, respectively, while the
U.S. grows at a comparatively slower 2-3%. In addition,
international diversification reduces risk by spreading out
investments
in non-correlating markets and lowers the volatility of the
portfolio as measured by the standard deviation of returns.

Lochinvar Financial Planning, Inc.
At Lochinvar, we act as partner to our clients, rather than as
advisor. Unlike other financial planners, we take the time to
understand your values, your goals, and your dreams. We listen.
We consider every client unique, and will never issue a boilerplate
response to your financial planning needs. We do NOT rely on
packaged software to create a financial plan, as so many firms do
these days. At Lochinvar, we prefer to put the pieces together,
taking the time to think about the ramifications of each decision.
The late 90's were nirvana for anyone invested in growth stocks.
Many individuals began to extrapolate near term success far into the
future. However, as we have seen since 2000, what goes up
usually does come down. For those invested in value stocks or bonds
over the past several years, it may have been a more rocky road.
However, they have generally achieved decent growth with
far less risk than investors in tech stocks.
Consider two mutual funds, both of which have averaged 10% growth
over three years. The conservative fund achieved 10% each year,
while the aggressive fund reported +20%, -30%, and +40%.
Which would you rather have owned? If you do the math, a $100,000
investment in the conservative fund would have yielded $133,100
after three years, while the aggressive fund would be worth
only $117,600. Sometimes slow and steady does win the race.
With nearly 30 years of experience in the investment industry, and
unlike many of today's money managers, we have seen bear markets
before. We have found that a diversified approach to
investing has yielded the most favorable long-term results. Are your
investments too highly concentrated in too few stocks?
Lochinvar can put together an investment portfolio for you that can
achieve your long-term goals, while limiting risk from insufficient
diversification. We also offer portfolio construction and
management services for those not accustomed to investment
decision-making.
Do you have investment or financial needs that we haven't covered on
this website? Not to worry. Lochinvar Financial Planning offers many
other investment and financial services. We'd be happy
to consult with you and custom fit an investment solution to your
particular needs.

Mortgage Planning Group, Inc.
Mortgage Trading Group Inc. was founded on August 30, 1993 by Jack
and Vickie Leachman. Both were born in Memphis Tennessee.Jack had
worked for ten years at other mortgage banking
companies. Vickie had worked a municipal bond firm for several
years. At that time, mortgage companies were mostly large, national
businesses staffed by an aggressive sales force. Jack and
Vickie envisioned a mortgage company with a personal touch.
After several years of slim profits, Jack and Vickie decided to
restructure the company by firing the sales force and generating
business by advertising Mortgage Trading Group’s rates and points.
The idea was and still is a success and the company has profited
nicely from its beginning in 1993.
In the early 90s, as interest rates dropped to the lowest levels in
20 years, Mortgage Trading Group’s business continued to grow. The
computer systems it had installed as late as 1990’s helped
the company handle the growing volume of business. Artificial
intelligence systems developed within the company also helped to
speed loan approvals. In addition, computer systems allowed
Mortgage Trading Group to become one of the first loan providers in
the area to offer electronic approvals. Today, Mortgage Trading
Group is consistently ahead of the competition in introducing
automated mortgage products to it’s clients.
At Mortgage Planning Group we are committed to helping each and
every one of our clients achieve the highest level of personal and
financial stability, comfort and success. Mortgage planning
requires a fresh look at the way you think about your mortgage and
home equity. Once you understand the wealth increasing potential
mortgage planning offers you will realize you have the
opportunity of a lifetime.
According to the article Financial Professionals: How We Can Help
You Help Your Clients--Building a Positive Future Equity
Repositioning is a Powerful Tool, by Stephen Marshall, CEO of
Mortgage Planner Magazine, “The majority of homeowners fail to
connect the dots. They believe their mortgage is in no way related
to their goals of saving for retirement, saving for college,
increasing their net worth, and eventually achieving financial
freedom.” “Nothing could be further from the truth,” Marshall
continues, “In reality, for most homeowners their mortgage is the #1
item
that could most positively affect all of these financial goals.”
